Microsoft has released the source code for the 10 February 1983 version of GW-BASIC, a BASIC interpreterthat came with old versions ofMS-DOS(of which versions 1.25 and 2.0 are also open source). And then there's always the option of running BSD/Unix/Linux-based tools in OS X, as well as Windows programs if you have an Intel-based Mac.
KBasic looks promising, especially considering the price.
